DAC 2500E
by: joe
Bought three of these safes and have been using them for
over six years. They are great and have always worked well.
several of my friends and a police department bought them
and they have served them well. It is a fine product. the
police department uses them as a secure safe in each office.
They work even better as they have a key overide in event the combination is lost.

DAC 2500E

Took me three tries before DAC themelves sent me one of these safes that actually worked. Poor craftsmanship was the culprit the first two times. First time, the door was bent. BENT! Steel's pretty thick on this baby's door, mind you. The second safe, the locking mechanism -- didn't. Loose as a goose, the small door handle turned this way and that. Quite agile and limber, but non-locking. The mechanism was DOA.
To DAC's credit, they sent me a THIRD safe at no cost to me. and told me to not bother about returning the second dead safe. It is now outdoors, filled with Miracle Grow potting soil, growing the nicest petunias you've ever seen. The third safe -- FINALLY -- holds my locked-and-loaded .45 ACP and 9mm Home Insurance Policies, courtesy of FNP.
So, IMO, you are taking more than the usual risk buying this safe. Crappy manufacturing is its only downside, and that's a big, big downside. The upside is when you get one that works it WORKS. Weight is excellent at 35 pounds, more than most safes this size. And, DAC proved their business integrity to me and would likely treat you well, in event of problems. Overall, great safe for the money, if you get one of the good ones.
